Almost that time of year again

Christmas time that is. Emma actually sat on Santa's lap without screaming and crying, yay! She gave him the cold shoulder and wouldn't speak to him but that's an improvement. She calls Santa 'Ho Ho' and I just think that's the cutest thing!

She also is really in to Clifford the Big Red Dog and asks to watch him on tv all the time. She says, "red dog on now please". She is really blossoming! You can actually have a conversation with her now and she can respond appropriately. When I point to my tummy and ask her who's in there she says, "baby in 'nere", so cute.

I thought it would be fun to do a progression of Christmas pictures to see how much she has changed.

What a difference! She looks like such a little lady. It's too bad she doesn't act like a lady all of the time. :)

As for me, I am now 18 weeks pregnant and feeling good. I have been feeling the baby move since 16 weeks and we will be having our big ultrasound on the 17th of January so I'm sure we will have the opportunity to find out what this little one is. For now, he/she is the May Flower. I'll have to take another belly picture for my 18 week stage. I am a whole lot smaller right now than I was with Emma, which is probably a good thing. I really don't think I even look outwardly pregnant, just fat. Haha!

I guess that's it for now, I'm sure most of you have decided that I'm not very good at keeping things updated, but I'm trying and I'm doing much better than Travis, he hasn't made a post in a really long time! ;) Will have Christmas pictures soon though!

12 weeks

I'm actually 15 weeks now and will be taking another picture next week but here is my 12 weeks picture to see how I'm growing. Oh, and I had just gotten home from work so that's why the royal blue pants, I was still weraing my scrubs. Haha.

Snow Princess Emma

I'm sure everyone knows we got lots of snow and winter weather. Emma just loved it all! We took her outside to play and she did not want to come back in. She calls the snow, snowman. She at one point layed in the snow and moved her arms around like she was swimming. She licked the snow and ate icicles, and made a snow angel (whether she was trying to or not). Mom got Emma a snowsuit and she got snow boots from NeNe so she is really set for playing in it all. I hope you all enjoy the pictures!

Emma's teepee

Clay and Paula got Emma a teepee for her birthday and she loves it! Here she is playing in it, she likes to hide and then say "peek-a-boo!"

We went to JohnCarl's wedding reception this past Saturday and it was nice to dress up and feel pretty. I guess I'll share my first belly pic, it's at 11 weeks. Not much to show but I guess it's starting. Hahaha.

I forgot to post about Halloween!

Emma was a witch and she had a ton of fun handing out candy at NeNe and Papa Jot's house.

Fun at Woodward Park

Last week after my appointment with the midwife Emma and I went to Woodward park in Tulsa and ran around. I got some great pictures of her. She is turning in to such a sweet little girl. She just loves to be outside and running around. We didn't explore the rose garden because I was utterly exhausted but we can another time I guess.

Updates

I am now 11 weeks along and feeling so much better. My morning sickness seems to have passed, thankfully and I feel like eating right again. I am going to meet my midwife for the first time today so I am very excited about that. I will be delivering at South Crest hospital in Tulsa for anyone who might come visit when the baby is born ;)

Emma had her 2 year check-up last week and she measured 34" and 25 lbs. Her doctor was very pleased with how she is progressing. She has a dentist appointment next week and I'll let you all know how that goes. She has been adding new words and sentences to her verbal library and has learned to take her clothes off. She also has now poo-poo'd on the potty. Nothing consistent but she at least has done it now.

When we go to Tulsa today I thought we would go by Woodward park and take some pictures. I'll post them later.

Pictures of Emma's 2nd birthday

L ife has been a whirlwind

It has been ages since our last post and I'm ashamed. I'm sorry things have gotten so frayed. Emma is now 2! I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and it's almost November already! For goodness sakes where does the time go? You know, I didn't even take any pictures of Emma in September?

We're both sitting here right now working on finishing off birthday cake. I looked over at Emma licking her fingers. :)

She has so many more words and phrases added to her vocabulary arsenal, it just amazes me everyday. Some things she says:
"Here ya go mom"
"Where go ball?"
"Mama, milk please."
"Mom, eat, eat, eat please"

oh, it's not a phrase but she now says the word Hippie. I thought that was hilareous.

When asked how old she is, she replies "Two!" and thrusts her index finger out in the air, yes just one finger while saying two. Ha!

She is easing into the potty training thing, or as the new fangeled term goes, "potty learning". She has yet to poo poo on there but every once in a while she pees on it and is getting better about telling me when she goes in her pants. Maybe I'll break out the old cloth diapers and see if that helps us out in our efforts.

I'll post some pictures of Emma's birthday party. She loved her Dora Power Wheels Jeep and she really likes to go out riding in it. She is getting better about driving it but still has moments where she doesn't even hold the steering wheel. She has almost ran Allie over twice. She really enjoyed all of her presents and really has been making the rounds playing with all of them. She also especially likes her Dora kitchen MiMi got her. She has been playing with that and has really started imaginary play. She fixed her a plate and one for me and we both pretended to eat. She gave me a tomato and she ate strawberry pancakes. I guess she thinks I should be eating healthy.

Our bathroom is coming right along, it's almost finished. In fact, the guys are coming today to put on shower doors and hopefully by the end of the week we can take a shower in our new bathroom! We still have some painting to do and by we I mean Travis. Since I can't be around the fumes I'm not allowed to paint. But I can help out in other ways. Travis has been so patient and wonderful with both Emma and myself. We are both blessed to have him in our lives!

Ok, I guess enough talking for now and I'll make a second post for pictures. Although, the way this program works, the pictures will come first and then you'll be reading this. Oh well. I hope you enjoyed them!

My Lil' Reminder

We were watching television last night and a commercial for My Lil' Reminder came on. This has to be one of the stupidest ads I have seen in recent memory. Watch the video on the homepage, it is the same ad that ran on television. Notice how you apparently have to hold the product up in the air and tilt your head at an awkward angle while having an astute look on your face like you are smarter than all of those simpletons who have not yet discovered the wonderful world of My Lil' Reminder.

How is it that infomercials are successful? Are we really a bunch of morons who believe that some little piece of crap product for $9.99 plus $6.99 for shipping and handling is going to make all the difference in our existence? Ever notice how these commercials make even the simplest of tasks seem extremely difficult when not using their product? Ever seen the commercial with the lady struggling to make a pot of pasta the old way? Never fear, with Pasta Pronto you can say goodbye to dangerous splashes and spills. Or how about the Life Alert commercial where the lady in the highwater jeans struggles to reach out for a phone which sadly is nowhere within her reach? Tweezing the old way is apparently darn near impossible, but thanks to LumaTweeze all your tweezing will be thorough and pain-free. Also are we more likely to buy their crappy product if there is a British guy extolling its virtures or Billy Mays is talking loud and moving his hands a lot? Keep in mind I am not against invention or innovation, I just think the marketing of these products is a bit silly.

On the other hand these commercials must be somewhat effective, I remembered enough about the products to Google them. That's another fun subject for another time, but I wonder what new proper noun will become a verb in the near future. Will anyone ever Travis something? If they do, I hope it is a nice thing. Back on point, why have we become a society that knows more about cheap products hawked by Billy Mays than what is going on in our world?

I watched the Glenn Beck Show tonight on Headline News. I highly recommend that others tune in to his radio or television program. He is entertaining while putting issues out for the public's consideration. If you listen to him very long, you will be convinced that the world is going to hell in a handbasket (whatever that phrase means, oh wait), but at least he makes it entertaining. Another show I am high on is the Dave Ramsey Show. I'm a bit of a financial nerd, so this is a natural fit. But really both of these guys speak about more than current events and money, respectively. They both touch on personal responsibility, having a clue what is going on in your world (be it political or financial), and appreciating your family and those closest to you.

By the way, I'm going to be a dad (again). I'm excited. Emma has really been a delight, and I'm sure the next one will be even better now that we are figuring out this parenting thing and maybe won't screw up as much this time around. If that's the case, I better start reading up on fun things to do in Stockholm (the location of the Nobel awards) because as smart as Emma is the next one is likely to be a freakin' genius. Just today, a large yellow vehicle drove by our house and Emma said "bus." The kid is sharp.

UPDATE:
Everyone remember how much I love "Damaged Guardrail" signs along the highway? (Refresher: Do those signs actually cause people to delay having an accident until there is a perfectly functional guardrail for them to strike?) Well the other day I saw a sign that read "Damaged Gaurdrail." Sadly the "End Road Work" signs seem to have little or no effect, construction keeps humming along.

Almost 6 weeks

I am feeling pretty good! Really, I'm exhausted but am trying to enjoy every minute of this. Keeping up with Emma is a full-time job! I'm going to try to eat some breakfast now before things really get moving for the day and I don't get to.

Emma the big sister-to-be

Well, it's news that's a couple weeks old now but I wanted a record on our family blog about it anyway. So here is Emma displaying her new T-shirt and a picture of my home pregnancy test. I am almost 6 weeks at this point and have been feeling pretty great except for being exhausted all the time. On that note, I think Emma and I will go take a nap now....

Emma, Aunt Joyce, Mom and myself all went to The Hornet's Nest Labor Day weekend. We all had a great time. :)

Calf Fry Festival

Emma had a great time and even tried her first calf fry! (well it was mostly breading that she eat but close enough). She also as you can see from the pictures, rode the pony. She was rocking her pink cowgirl boots again.

Emma told me

She had pee-pee'd. Well, she didin't she had pooped but at least she recognized that she went and came to tell me! Woohoo! I think that's forward movement :)

The state of affairs

In our bathroom... It's all gutted now and we are finally (hopefully) going to be rebuilding it from her on out. Six floor joists got replaced and now they will being working on the wall studs and start replacing the floor and everything else. Finally! Yes, that is Harley on the ground under the house, peeking through the floor. For those not in the know, I haven't been able to use this bathroom since before last Thanksgiving!!!! It will be nice to be able to have it done :)

I realize I've been slacking

I haven't been doing a real good job of keeping you all updated and thank you for those that are hainging in there! I have put several new things on today and hope you enjoy them!! We love you all!

We have hit full-blown toddler stage. She has taken to throwing fits when she doesn't get her way. Maybe I can use pictures like this when she's a teenager to show her how she looks when throwing a fit. Ha!

Cowgirl Emma

Well, today was Rodeo Parade Day. I had to work but Emma went and watched the parade in daddy's office. Evidently she had a great time and really loved the parade. She looked adorable in her cowgirl outfit complete with pink cowgirl boots. She loves her new boots. :) Will host a video in a bit!

My Boogers

Yesterday afternoon I was lounging on the couch watching the PGA Championship when Emma came up to me and pointed at my knee and said "knee." I knew that she was aware of the location of her knees but I was a little bit surprised that she is now able to recognize that others also have knees. I decided to test her out and went through the list of body parts that she knows about but having her point to me instead of her. She even has a bit of a sense of humor; when I asked her "where is daddy's belly?" she poked me in the belly and I think she made the Pillsbury doughboy squeal.

So after completing her quiz, she turned and started to walk away. Shana asked Emma "where are daddy's boogers?" and Emma wheeled back around and headed towards me. She stuck out her index finger and attempted to pick my nose. I don't remember having an in-depth conversation on boogers, but Emma has apparently learned of their existence from some other source. Kind of makes me wonder what else she has already picked up without my knowledge.
